Jason Schottel, PhD, DC, APRN-C, MBA, AAOPM, ABAAHP, FAAMM
Dr. Schottel was born in New York and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. He currently resides in Port Orange with his wife Rebecca and daughter. Here is where he established his practice Anti-Aging and Regenerative Associates in 2017. Dr. Schottel received his medical training at Saba University School of Medicine, earned his Doctor of Medical Sciences at Wilmington University and his Doctor of Chiropractic at Palmer College of Chiropractic. He also received his Master of Science in Nursing from South University and MBA from Davenport University. Dr. Schottel holds board certifications in Adult Primary Care, Aesthetic Medicine, Anti-Aging Medicine, Chiropractic Medicine, and Physiotherapy. Dr. Schottel is a Fellow in Metabolic Medicine and his sub-specialization is metabolic cardiology and regenerative medicine. Dr. Schottel played minor league professional football for the Jacksonville Bandits and Brunswick Tigers. He also holds a national and world title in powerlifting. He enjoys spending time with his family/friends, working out, watching sports and reading.
Rebecca Schottel, BSN, RN
Rebecca was born in Pittsburgh (Steeler Country) and raised in Orange Park, Florida. She moved to Port Orange with Jason and their daughter and helped open Anti-Aging & Regenerative Associates. She is responsible for running the day to day operations at AARA. Her oldest child is in the Air Force and she is an avid supporter of our military and all first responders. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from University of North Florida and has been a nurse for 24 years. Her specialty is mental health and correctional nursing. She enjoys spending time with her family/friends, swimming with her 2 dogs (Dokken and Tyson), and enjoying the peace of quiet of home.
Sumerlyn Kendrick, ARNP, FNP
Sumerlyn grew up in south Alabama and obtained her bachelor’s in nursing from the University of Alabama. “Roll Tide”. She moved to Florida on a travel contract in 2019 but after a year here she decided to make it her forever home. During Sumerlyn’s move to Florida, she continued her studies at Walden University in the family nurse practitioner program and graduated with honors. Helping others, research, and learning how to heal “the why” instead of treating “the what” through integrative medicine is her passion and drives her to continue her education in further specialty areas. Sumerlyn enjoys free time with her family and spends as much time as she can in, on, or by the water.
Jonathan Henriquez, DC
Dr. Henriquez was born and raised in Miami and is bilingual having learned Spanish as his first language. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Sports and Exercise Science from the University of Central Florida and his Doctor of Chiropractic from Palmer College of Chiropractic. He is board certified in Chiropractic Medicine and Physiotherapy. He also holds certifications in SFMA level 1, ART Spine Level 1, and Rock Tape FMT basic. Dr. Henriquez joined AARA in 2018 and offers chiropractic services in wellness, rehab, personal injury and sports performance optimization. While attending the UCF he began to compete in power lifting which he still participates in today. He enjoys spending time with family/friends, working out, racing cars and spending time with his pit bull Rocky.
Sebastian Torres, DC, CCPA
Certified Chiropractic Physician Assistant
Sebastian was born and raised in Ponce, Puerto Rico and moved to Florida 5 years ago to attend Palmer College of Chiropractic. He joined AARA in 2020 and currently works as our certified chiropractic physician assistant while awaiting licensure. He holds certifications in FAKTR, Smart Tools, and SFMA Level 1. You will also see Sebastian in the clinic assisting with physical exams, AO Scan and lab draws. Sebastian is very focused at work but likes for people to know he has a good sense of humor. In his spare time he enjoys playing basketball, rollerblading, paddleboarding and going to the beach.
Megan Winnie, RN
Megan was raised in St. Louis, Missouri (Go Cardinals!) and moved to Florida when she was 18 years old. She attended University of South Florida for advertising and public relations but decided to move back to Daytona and start Nursing School at Daytona State. For the past 13 years she has worked in Oncology, Emergency Medicine and Trauma. She loves her 2 adorable fur babies and enjoys having fun in the sun at the beach and driving her convertible. Megan loves helping our community and brightening people’s days!
Spyro Chakalos, DC, RMA, CPT
Spyro was born and raised in Virginia but moved to Florida six years ago to attend Palmer College of Chiropractic. He has also obtained certifications as a registered medical assistant and phlebotomy technician. Spyro joined our anti-aging clinic in Port Orange in 2018. He currently works as our phlebotomist, and he is the best at what he does! He is hardworking with a tenacious mind. Spyro enjoys cooking, spending time with family and friends and working out.
Martina is a Florida native who was born and raised in the sunshine state. She resides here in Port Orange with her husband Sean and children. She obtained her Associates Degree from Daytona College and has been in the medical field for 10+ years. Martina joined AARA in 2020 as one of our administrative assistants. She is most proud of rescuing a cat and a fireman from a tree top (twice). She enjoys spending time with her family, playing Pokemon GO, and making people laugh.
Cynthia was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and of course is a Steelers fan! She moved to Florida in 2011 with her husband to be closer to her extended family and plans to stay in the sunshine state. Cynthia is also one of our newest team members and joined AARA this year (2021) and works as our scheduling coordinator. She has her Associate Degree in Business, a certificate in paralegal studies and is a licensed medical esthetician as well as a CNA. She enjoys learning new things when she can and currently takes art lessons, yoga, and ballroom dancing. Cynthia also enjoys going to arts and crafts festivals when the weather is cool.
Tina des Islets
Office Coordinator, Phlebotomist
Tina was born and raised in Tampa Florida and moved to Jacksonville in 1977. After graduating, she got married and became a stay home wife and mom. In 2008 she was hired on with The Blood Alliance where she trained in phlebotomy with specific focus on therapeutic blood draws and Apheresis. In 2014, Tina ventured out and opened her own therapeutic blood draw center while also working for a doctor’s office as their phlebotomist. Tina has been hired as our coordinator and phlebotomist for the Jacksonville office. Tina has 4 wonderful children who have given her 4 beautiful grandchildren and another one due in March. Her children and grandchildren are the loves of her life and she enjoys spending all her spare time with them.
Christy was born and raised in Wayne, Oklahoma and moved to Florida with her husband in 2020 to seek new adventures. Christy joined the AARA team as our newest scheduling coordinator. She is a big sports fan; especially when it comes to OU football (Boomer Sooner!!) but also loves everything from horse racing to drag racing. In her spare time, she enjoys going to concerts, taking spontaneous road trips, spending time on the lake and now exploring all of our local Florida attractions.
Ty Tarnow, RN, FF, EMT/Paramedic
Director of Men’s Sexual Health
Ty is a Florida native and was born in Tampa but raised right here in Port Orange. He obtained his Associates of Science in Nursing, Fire Science Degree, and EMT/Paramedic certification from Daytona State College. He also holds certifications in ACLS, BTLS, PALS, and Advanced Procedures. His background is in emergency medicine, transitional care, home health, and men’s sexual health. Ty joined AARA in 2020 and is in charge of running our men’s sexual health program. His passion is treating and educating men on how to improve their quality of life and is a Curamedix shockwave provider. When he is not putting out fires or saving lives, Ty enjoys fishing/hunting, working out, and surfing.
Shelby is a Florida native and was born and raised in Lake Mary. She spent 8 years of her childhood living in Asheville, NC which cultivated her love for all things outdoors and the mountains. Shelby has been a massage therapist for 27 years and specializes in sports massage, neuromuscular, injury recovery, prenatal, deep tissue, Swedish, reflexology and lymphatic massage. Shelby states she can’t think of anything more fulfilling than helping others improve the quality of their lives.
When she is not working, Shelby loves to stay active and rarely sits still. She enjoys cycling, working out, taking her two Labradors ( Moose and Sterling) on walks, painting, furniture refinishing, cooking, good wine, and loving on my daughter, family, and friends.
