If you’re suffering from erectile dysfunction (ED), it may be affecting your mental health and your relationship with your partner. Fortunately, the P-Shot® can relieve symptoms of ED and other disorders like Peyronie’s disease. You could enjoy better sexual function, performance, and pleasure.
You don’t have to live with your symptoms. Our primary care physician or one of our other health practitioners can provide the P-Shot® and other solutions like testosterone therapy. During a simple preliminary appointment, we’ll be able to tell you about all of your options, including the St. Augustine P-Shot® for erectile dysfunction.
Does the P-Shot® Help With ED?
Erectile dysfunction, or ED, causes difficulty getting and keeping an erection. It can affect a man’s sexual function, performance, and pleasure, which can have a greater, often multi-faceted, effect on his life. However, there are solutions, and the P-Shot® may be one of them.
The P-Shot® may help with ED by promoting tissue growth in the treatment area. This form of ED treatment works similarly to Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy. PRP therapy can treat muscle damage by using regenerative platelets in the patient’s blood to renew muscle tissue. With the P-Shot®, the platelets are placed into the penis to promote tissue growth. If treatment is successful, it may relieve the symptoms of ED.
Does the P-Shot Help With Peyronie's Disease?
Peyronie’s Disease causes penile scarring and even painful and curved erections. It can affect a man’s sexual life, as well, especially if it leads to ED. However, the P-Shot® can also help with Peyronie’s Disease by improving tissue health and strength.
What Are the Benefits of the St. Augustine P-Shot for Erectile Dysfunction?
Since the P-Shot® may improve tissue growth, tissue health, and blood flow in the treatment area, there are many benefits. A patient’s ED-related symptoms could be relieved or go away entirely, and as a result, the patient could experience:
- An increase in penis-size
- An improvement in nerve sensitivity, resulting in better orgasms
- A stronger sex drive (libido)
- Higher sexual stamina
- An improvement in his sex life and sexual relationship with his partner
- Better mental health
- An improvement in the symptoms of Peyronie’s disease or lichen sclerosus (a condition causing thin, patchy, and/or discolored skin)
- Improved sexual function after prostate surgery
- Benefits that could complement a related therapy, such as testosterone replacement therapy
What Are the Risks and Side Effects of the P-Shot®?
The potential benefits of the P-Shot® often outweigh the possible risks and side effects for those considering treatment. Side effects can include scarring or infection, but your provider will do everything necessary to reduce these and inform you of your personal risk. More common side effects typically include swelling, redness, and bruising, but they should last only a few days post-injection.
What Happens in a P-Shot® Procedure?
You may be concerned about the procedure, but we hope to assure you of how safe this form of therapy is. Generally, it’s a very simple procedure for the patient. The P-Shot® doesn’t involve:
- Pain (Generally, they are quite comfortable)
- Surgery (It’s minimally invasive)
- Much time (The procedure lasts about 30 minutes)
- Downtime (However, after the procedure, the patient should avoid physical activity for about an hour)
Instead, the procedure simply involves a provider from our clinic:
- Applying a numbing cream and local anesthetic to the treatment area
- Taking a blood sample
- Extracting platelets from the sample
- Injecting the platelets into the treatment area several times
After your procedure, your provider will:
- Explain the aftercare to you, which may involve using a penis pump for a short while
- Schedule your next treatment sessions
- Explain potential side effects and complications
- Provide instructions for what to do if you experience side-effects
How Long Does It Take to See Results From the P-Shot®?
It may take time for you to see results because tissue growth can take time. You will likely need additional treatments, but after two to three months, you should see your best results. You could get better and quicker results if you get another treatment like testosterone therapy at the same time.
However, it is possible to see results within 24 hours after your first procedure. If so, you may also see fast results after other sessions.
Your health and your ED’s severity may affect your treatment timeline.
